About This Tool

Compare PDFs is a powerful tool for visual document comparison. It analyzes two PDF files and highlights the differences between them, making it easy to spot changes in text, formatting, or layout.

You can choose between "Side-by-Side" view to see pages next to each other, or "Overlay" mode to see changes superimposed (often acting like a "light box"). Detected differences are highlighted in color so you don't miss a thing.

All comparison happens locally in your browser. This is crucial for comparing sensitive contracts or legal documents, as they never leave your computer.

How to Use

  1. Upload Two PDFs

Upload the "Original" version and the "Modified" version you want to compare.

  2. Choose View Mode

Select "Side-by-Side" for parallel reading or "Overlay" to visually spot layout shifts and text changes.

  3. Analyze & Export

Review the highlighted differences on screen. You can also download a summary report of the changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it compare text content?

Yes, it detects changes in text content as well as visual layout changes.

What do the colors mean?

Typically, red indicates deleted or changed content from the original, while green indicates new content in the modified version.

Can I compare files with different page counts?

Yes, but the comparison works best page-by-page. Extra pages will be shown as completely new/added content.

Is it accurate for scanned docs?

For scans, it uses visual comparison. It works well if the scans are aligned, but significant skewing might show false positives.
